PAED PREFERRED REVIEW:

I have been recommending QV products for many years now, due to their day-to-day effectiveness, wide availability and high tolerance.

 

QV Cream is Ego’s basic moisturiser, and is a good place to start if looking for an all round moisturiser for your newborn or older child. It comes in a range of sizes, and is found in most pharmacies, but not supermarkets.

 

For eczema treatment, in most cases of mild inflammation, QV Cream is very effective, but I find that other products, including QV Intensive, can be more useful, and require less frequent application. In very few cases have I found any skin sensitivity to QV products.

 

Is there Evidence?

QV Cream contains Squalane, which is one of the main components of skin lipids ie what makes our skin moist. Squalane occurs naturally, and tends to decline once adults reach their 30’s. Therefore it would make sense to include it in a moisturiser for children’s dry skin. There have been studies in both animals and humans that demonstrate the action of Squalane in limiting water loss from skin.
